Business Development Specialist

The Business Development Specialist is responsible for generating new business opportunities and growing relationships with existing clients. This role serves as the primary point of contact for prospective customers, identifying their needs and providing solutions through Gateway’s services, including pipeline construction, surveying, drafting, line locating, and hydro excavation.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Promote and sell Gateway’s services, including pipeline construction, surveying, drafting, line locating, and hydro excavation.
  • Identify prospective customers through networking, referrals, cold calling, and other business development activities.
  • Develop and execute sales plans in collaboration with management to achieve individual and company sales objectives.
  • Manage a sales pipeline and maintain accurate customer and opportunity records within the Company’s CRM system.
  • Prepare and follow up on proposals, bids, and quotations to maximize conversion opportunities.
  • Maintain regular communication with customers to identify future opportunities, resolve concerns, and strengthen relationships.
  • Communicate market trends, customer feedback, competitive intelligence, and business opportunities to management.
  • Attend industry events, trade shows, and customer functions to promote Gateway and expand professional networks.
  • Maintain a strong understanding of industry trends, customer needs, and Gateway’s service offerings.
  • Travel within the assigned territory (Oklahoma, Texas, Kansas) as needed (approximately 10% travel required).
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum one (1) year of outside sales, business development, account management, or related experience.
  • Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and relationship-building abilities.
  • Strong self-discipline, initiative, and time-management skills.
  • Proven ability to proactively generate leads, follow through on opportunities, and maintain consistent sales activity.
  • Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to pass required pre-employment screenings, including drug testing.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Communications, or a related field.
  • Two to three years of outside sales or business development experience.
  • Experience in construction, utility, pipeline, engineering, surveying, excavation, or related industries.
  • Experience using CRM software to manage customer relationships and sales activities.

Professional Land Surveyor

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Monitor field crews with project manager to ensure Oklahoma minimum standards are being met
  • Conducts legal and record research and analysis as needed
  • Review survey data, ensuring compliance to applicable regulations
  • Perform quality control checks of plats and sign as needed
  • Participates in weekly project meetings
  • Provide technical office support to crew chiefs and CAD draftsman

Qualifications:

  • Must be a PLS in Oklahoma
  • Must have 2-5 years of experience
  • Civil 3D experience preferred, but will train
  • Experience in the field conducting land surveys
  • Must have Microsoft Office experience
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs
  • Must have clean driving record
  • Must be able to pass required drug test

Land Surveyor Intern (Survey Experience Required)

This position offers a great path to becoming a licensed surveyor with the opportunity to gain experience with various types of surveys. As Land Survey Intern, you will be responsible for accurately gathering all field evidence, compiling survey data, maintaining detailed notes, and organizing project information-all while working closely with licensed professionals to develop your skills and knowledge.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Conducts legal and record research and analysis
  • Field data collection as needed
  • Data processing of survey data, including evaluating accuracy
  • Ensure compliance to applicable regulations
  • Perform quality control checks of plat and drawings prepared by other technicians
  • Provide technical office support
  • Report to Licensed Surveyor
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisors

Qualifications:

  • Must be on a path to licensure as defined by the Oklahoma State Board of Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors
  • Experience with Trimble, GNSS equipment and software a must. Optical Digital levels and total stations experience preferred
  • Experience with MS Office Suite software
  • Ability to work outdoors in any weather conditions on a regular basis including extreme cold and heat
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs
  • Ability to stand, stoop, crouch, kneel and perform other related physical activities for long periods of time
  • Ability to walk on uneven surfaces
  • Must be able to pass DOT required drug test
  • Must have a clean motor vehicle report

Experience:

  • Minimum 2 years surveying experience

Drafter

The purpose of the drafter position is to complete drawings using AutoCAD/Civil 3D and Microsoft office programs, quality control, and drafting pre-checks.

Duties and Responsibilities:
• Assisting Licensed Surveyors and survey crews when needed
• Performing quality control on projects
• Drafting of client deliverables, some examples include: alignment sheets, landowner plats, permit and bore design profiles, boundary surveys
• Create surfaces in Civil 3D
• Troubleshoot basic AutoCAD problems
• Other duties as assigned by supervisors

Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills and Abilities):
• Strong interpersonal skills
• Experience with the current version of AutoCAD/Civil 3D
• Must be detail oriented
• Proficient in desktop applications (i.e. Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Word, Adobe Acrobat)
• Excellent problem-solving skills in regards to client/drafting issues
• Ability to lift 25 lbs
• Ability to sit for long period of time
• Must be able to pass required drug test and background check

Experience:
• 2-4 years of experience (surveying/drafting)
• High school diploma or GED required
• Proficient in plot routines, plot drivers and ctb files
• Proficient in land grid system, coordinate zones as well as general surveying practices
• Advanced knowledge of AutoCAD commands, functions, menu pulldowns, title blocks and dynamic blocks

Survey Crew Chief

This position will work on a 2 person survey crew. You will be responsible for accurately gathering all field evidence, compiling data, keeping notes, and organizing project information.

Duties and Responsibilities:
• Operation of survey equipment
• Compile field notes to company standards
• Make sketches and enter data into the computer
• Boundary, Topo, routing, and construction staking surveys
• Manage crew and report to Licensed Surveyor
• Other duties as assigned by supervisors

Qualifications:
• Experience with Trimble, GNSS equipment and Trimble Access a must. Optical Digital levels and total stations experience preferred.
• Must be willing to travel
• Be able to work overtime and weekends
• Ability to work outdoors in any weather conditions on a regular basis including extreme cold and heat
• Ability to lift 50 lbs
• Ability to stand, stoop, crouch, kneel and perform other related physical activities for long periods of time
• Ability to walk on uneven surfaces
• Must be able to pass DOT required drug test

Land Survey Technician

The Survey Field Technician will work on a survey crew assisting the RPLS/Crew Chief on many different types of surveys in the energy industry.  This is a great opportunity to learn about beginning a surveying career. Advancement opportunities are available.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Line locating
  • Perform manual labor, such as: cutting brush for lines, using a shovel or pick, carrying stakes, rebar and other heavy items, and setting stakes
  • Helping set up various survey equipment
  • Operate different types of measuring tools, such as: measuring tapes, level rods, prism poles, and various GNSS equipment
  • Maintain equipment and vehicles used by surveying crews
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor

Qualifications:

  • Must have a clean motor vehicle report
  • Must be willing to travel
  • Be able to work overtime and weekends
  • Ability to work outdoors in any weather conditions on a regular basis including extreme cold and heat
